Common Deficiencies:
1 – Lack of required CFI endorsements on a student pilot certificate
2 – Incorrect or missing CFI endorsements for required flight and ground training or for the practical test.
3 – Lack of applicant’s name in logbook and/or applicant’s signature certification on completed pages of the logbook.
4 – Aeronautical charts not current.
5 – Unfamiliarity with the Airport Facility Directory
6 – Inadequate knowledge of airspace and operating requirements
7 – Inadequate knowledge of aircraft systems
8 – Inadequate knowledge of aeromedical factors
9 – Inadequate knowledge concerning aircraft equipment list, if appropriate
10 – Lack of knowledge concerning preventive maintenance and documentation of preventive maintenance that may be completed by a pilot
11 – Lack of pilot-in-command attitude – MAKE THE DECISIONS
12 – Private pilot and commercial pilot applicants should be prepared to demonstrate power-on and power-off stall demonstrations in the following configurations:
a. A power-off turning stall in landing configuration (full flaps simulating base turn to final)
b. A power-on stall in takeoff configuration wings level (simulating liftoff and initial climbout)
c. A power-on turning stall in clean configuration (simulating a cross-wind exit of the traffic pattern)
